This is an excerpt that shows how Ash Redfern (who has been alerted by Aradia, the Maiden of the Witches, that the Apocalypse, due nearly a year ago and forgotten now by most, is actually going to come) begins to rescue the NIGHT WORLD soulmate couples from the enemies who, for unknown reasons, are targeting the youngest generation of Harmans and Redferns. Ash’s last rescue will be of Mary-Lynnette, and will appear in the book, so the story Those Who Favor Fire will be finished in STRANGE FATE (which I hope to finish this calendar year). – L. J.
A look into the mind of an Old Soul. Sixteen-year-old Hannah Snow thinks she’s going crazy. But when a psychologist regresses her with hypnosis, Hannah suddenly finds herself back in the times when humans lived in caves, reliving her first meeting with Thierry, the very first made vampire . . . and her soulmate. In every other one of Hannah’s lives the evil Maya has killed Hannah before she reached the age of 16, and so kept the soulmates apart. Will this life be any different? (From Night World, Book 2.)
A sneak peek into the haunting epic of Jenny Thornton and Julian, the youngest and most beautiful creature from the Shadow World. Julian, exotic and uncanny, with hair as white as frost and electric blue eyes, mesmerizes Jenny at first sight. But she quickly discovers that he is born of a race that is completely evil, and that his only desire is to have dominion over her, body and soul. In order to win her submission he seems willing to go to any length—but Jenny has a mind of her own. (From the book The Forbidden Game.)
A little Sneak Peek into Nightfall, Vampire Diaries Volume 5, and the first of the book in TVD: The Return trilogy. Matt, Bonnie, and Meredith are stuck in the Old Wood, while Damon watches them from above, with no idea that he is being possessed by a creature completely evil, which turns his own mind against him and hardens his heart. Not for the claustrophobic!
Here’s a sneak peek into the first of the Night World stories, Secret Vampire. Poppy North is just an ordinary high school junior who dreams of traveling to foreign countries. But then she finds that she has a fatal disease. Her best friend—and her secret love—James Rasmussen, has a plan to save her. But it leaves Poppy with a terrible choice . . . while her time is running out. (From Night World Book 1.)
The beginning of the Quest for the Wild Powers, the young people who have in their blood, the old strong, magic. Both the newly formed Circle Daybreak, made up of humans and Night People who want to live peacefully together, and the vampires of the Night World Council are searching for these Wild Powers—but for very different reasons. Can Jez fight her way back into what is now Morgead’s gang, and fulfill her quest? (From Night World, Book 3)
This began as part of the Night World book Strange Fate, but the characters were so compelling . . . that the tale grew in the telling. It is now being planned as an independent, standalone book, with vague connections to the Night World, perhaps. In any case, it will follow the Post- Apocalyptic adventures of the courtesan Brionwy and her young “abled” friend Crispy as they fight to escape the Slave Farm to which they both belong. Rating: for mature people who enjoy suspense and vampire tales.
